Daron Herbert Art Pet Portraits & Wildlife Art

Welcome to my website.

I'm a pet portrait and wildlife artist based in South Wales, UK and specialise in realistic pencil drawings from photographs. I work in both graphite and high quality coloured pencil and use archival acid free paper.

Please take a look at my gallery page and my latest "work in progress" on my Instagram feed below.

If you like my work and are interested in a commission see below or if you have any questions then please get in touch via the contact page.

I will work closely with you to ensure that you have a portrait which you will treasure and which has special meaning for you.

I work from photographs, so the first step is to choose an appropriate photo. A good photograph is one which clearly shows the subject detail and is not blurry. Lighting is important too and it helps if the picture is neither too dark or overexposed. If you are going to be taking photographs for this purpose then try to do so at the subject's eye level, in good light. It also helps if the subject is not directly face on, which can sometimes give a flat look to the picture. The photo shown is an example of a good photo.

The next thing is to decide on what size portrait you want. I generally work in A4 (210 x 297mm) and A3 (297 x 420mm). If you want more than one subject or a full body then it would need to be the latter.

You will need to send me your requirements, attaching the photograph(s). I will then let you know how long it will likely take and confirm the price - if you want the drawing for a particular date (say a birthday) then please let me know.

I ask for a £50 deposit upon placing the order and full payment when you are satisfied with the completed portrait. Payment can be made by credit card, secure bank transfer or Paypal.

I will keep you updated throughout the process and will send you pictures of the work in progress for your approval.
